Open Day at the Reading Room

Open Day at the Reading Room,
Wartime in Aston-cum-Aughton Parish

Saturday 2nd July 2011,
10.00 a.m. to 4.00 p.m.

This was a most successful open day held in the Reading Room at Aston. We had a very extensive display of memorabilia, photographs and stories about the two World Wars. We were busy the whole day and received many compliments – the most frequent being how much visitors enjoyed being able to pick up and look more closely at the objects and papers on display. One comment by a visitor was that it was better than any museum she had visited.

Several visitors asked us to repeat the open day because friends and relatives had been unable to attend. We will be combining our Wartime Theme with our Local History Displays at our Heritage Open Weekend on the 9th and 10th September 2011 in the Reading Room. Come and spend some time reminiscing with us at the William Layne Reading Room, Aughton Lane, Aston, Sheffield, S26 2AN.
